The Knaypa was established in December 2007. From the beginning our main aim is to offer our customers the highest standard. The Knaypa offers the best quality authentic traditional Polish cuisine prepared by highly talented Chef Darek Koch.
At The Knaypa you can choose from two dining areas each of one can seat 35 people: the ground floor has a contemporary design with pale wooden flooring, red leather seating and crisp red & black linen; the downstairs area, reminiscent of an old Silesian inn, is more rustic and an entirely different proposition altogether with dark wooden furniture, atmospheric lighting and homely atmosphere. In keeping with the style of this lower section the food is served in time-honoured fashion on hand carved lime wooden platters adding a touch of authenticity to the whole affair.
In our restaurant you can have business lunch, romantic dinner or family meeting as well as special events. We can cater for weddings, birthdays, first communions days and business meetings. You can reserve either a table or the whole floor.
The menu at The Knaypa has something to tempt everyone, as well as Polish staples such as pierogi, golabki and bigos, dishes include Soured Rye Flour Soup with White Sausage and Eggs served in a bowl of bread, Herrings served with three different sauces, Roasted Pork Shank and Traditional Baked Polish Cheesecake. Knaypa’s cellar boasts some superb accompanying beverages to our food menu with a fine selection of Polish beers and vodkas, both plain and flavoured, and a small but perfectly formed wine list.
We aim to make your visit to The Kanypa a very pleasant one with our incredible atmosphere, highly skilled staff and delicious food prepared to a highest standard.
Welcome to the Knaypa!!!
After short introduction you can have a look what the newspapers wrote about "The Knaypa".
1. SQUAREMEAL.CO.UK Knaypa means ‘pub' in Polish, but while this Hammersmith newcomer's dark wood basement may look pubby, the ground floor is a much more polished affair of red leather chairs, smoky mirrors & black tables. The food, too, is a mix of classic & contemporary. Complimentary smalec, a tasty Polish-style pork rillette, may be followed by starters of simply served herring or a warming soured rye-flour soup with garlic sausage, quails' eggs & ceps, served in hollowed-out bread. Mains include traditional rich goulash with rosti-style potato pancakes, & homemade veal, wild mushroom & cheese dumplings, as well as king prawns in garlic butter with braised fennel & basmati rice. With many mains under £10, it's good value. Puds of baked cheesecake & mashed apple tart are best shared given the heavy nature of the food, though you could always round off with a shot of smooth cherry vodka instead. With Polish beer on tap, a small but reasonably priced wine list (Barolo at £26) & very friendly service, Knaypa has all the markings of a local favourite.

7. DINE-ONLINE.CO.UK ....the best of traditional Polish cuisine with a modern touch from head chef Darek Koch. The Knaypa is an exciting new Polish restaurant on King Street in Hammersmith, West London. Spread over two floors, The Knaypa offers different dining experiences on the upper and lower levels: the ground floor is colourful, chic and modern whereas downstairs is an entirely different proposition with rustic wooden furniture, atmospheric lighting and homely atmosphere. The contrasting dining areas are reflected in the menu that brings together the best of traditional Polish cuisine with a modern touch from head chef Darek Koch. The Knaypa is open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner so, as they say in Poland, "Eat, drink and loosen your belt!"
